People with disabilities make up 15% of the world's population. They include people with visual, auditory, motor/physical disabilities (paraplegics for instance, who maybe unable to use a mouse) and also people with cognitive or learning disabilities (people with dyslexia, those on the autistism spectrum, etc.). While they already deal with design gaps in urban spaces, like poor wheelchair accessibility, digital product and service companies might unknowingly be replicating hurdles for them in the digital world too.

Accessibility is part of the inclusive thought process that touches the lives of people with disabilities by enabling them to have better access to the resources around us, narrowing differences and enabling a talent pool that is waiting to make their impact on society.

With the world at large being the target market for global product enterprises, Digital Accessibility has today evolved from being a buzzword to a necessity. Over the years, Prakat has strived to create solutions that leverage Assistive and Adaptive technologies to provide for a high degree of universality and therefore achieve full product/service potential. Combining our capabilities and experience in Testing and Automation with the human aspect of the end user led us to establish Product Testing guidelines that support our customers today – including that of Accessibility Readiness, through which, we ensure that any technology our customers invest in, reaches every user, be it at the Enterprise level, in a B2B environment or the external world and of course, the individual consumer.

We are proud to be associated with our customers through our Accessibility Readiness capability to support social inclusion. Our ability to help our customers on a global scale, including product and services companies, gives us the edge to collaborate and work with large global enterprises and their continuous product innovations for the global markets.

Applying technology to promote accessibility and universality :
Making technology accessible for the disabled has been part of our vision of inclusivity since our early days and this vision is reflected in our service offerings as well as our social outreach initiatives.

Empowering the latent potential of people with disabilities to make them an integral part of the technology workforce :
We train and help place people with diabilities. We also partner with customers/partners through the Prakat Impact Program with the aim of helping them gain value by successfully employing differently.

Prakat’s Accesibility Engineering service offerings validate software applications and products for ease of use to benefit users with disabilities, which means equal opportunity for all users. Prakat facilitates enablement of applications and products to integrate with assistive technologies in compliance with the Accessibility standards and laws laid down by the W3C Accessibility group and US Federal Regulations. Prakat also has the experience and assets to train people with visual impairments in accessibility, upgrading their skills for their transition into the workforce. We have partnered with Mitrajyothi, Bangalore, to impart training on accessibility testing. The success of our training program lies in the placement of these trainees at Cisco, TCS and other IT majors.

To empower the latent potential of people with disabilities and make them an integral part of the workforce is a key focus area for us. We partner with government agencies and non-governmental organizations in identifying, training and placing the differently abled within the technology workforce. The success of our training program lies in the placement of these trainees at Cisco, TCS and other IT majors. Prakat has designed and created several training programs, including the Vocational Rehab training at Denver that provides skill development opportunities to the differently abled. We also conduct trainings for the visually challenged in collaboration with Mitra Jyothi, Bangalore. The Prakat Impact Program was conceptualized to enable our clients and partners employ differently and truly gain value through it.

Ignoring Accessibility limits the reach of products/services, including non-disabled users facing a situational disability (ex. Using a phone with gloves or trying to listen to a call in a noisy place). We help you expand the reach of your products/services through Accessibility.

It is legal requirement to make technology accessible for everyone. We help you comply with global accessibility standards, W3C Accessibility group laws and US Federal Regulations.

By providing equal opportunities and equal access to services and products, companies can strengthen their brand value and their image of a socially responsible leader

Companies that take accessibility seriously often make their own internal information and processes accessible, too, which means they have access to potential employees with disabilities.
