A thriving bounty in the hilly regions of India’s Himachal Pradesh, an apple is every healthy eater’s pick. With health-conscious foods now becoming an increasingly profitable business segment, not to mention opportunities resulting from booming ecommerce marketplaces, establishing the online presence of some 5,000 apple farmers was an essential operation for the Prakat team. These apple farmers would need help managing and marketing their produce, supporting their farming efforts, and improving distribution channels. The bottom line was that an end-to-end technology transformation solution was necessary to empower this core of the agricultural industry.

OVERVIEW

India’s Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (HPMC) is currently instituting a series of e-governance transformations through Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP) implementation across its entire business organization. This SAP implementation requires both an internet and intranet portal to facilitate external access of HPMC information by farmers, vendors, and distributors.
